About Mindfulness Helps

Dr Louise Mercer

Dr Louise Mercer MB ChB (Hons)

Founder of Mindfulness Helps and a Breathworks accredited Mindfulness Teacher.

I qualified from the School of Medicine at the University of Liverpool in 1990.

I then had the great privilege to work as a doctor in the NHS for 27 years. For most of  my career I was a GP partner, first in Merseyside and then in Greater Manchester.

I have now retired and I am no longer in clinical practice but I remain registered in good standing with the GMC.

GMC 3487510

I hold an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate for Children and Adults from the DBS.

Mindfulness Accreditation

I am a Breathworks accredited mindfulness teacher.

I chose Breathworks as my training organisation because of their specialist programs to help people living with stress, chronic pain and long term illness.

Whilst working as a GP I found mindfulness to be useful for many of my patients, alongside their conventional treatments.

Teaching mindfulness is a wonderful way, following my retirement from clinical practice, of continuing to help others and contribute to their wellbeing in an evidence based and effective way .

Mindfulness Helps

Why choose Mindfulness Helps?

I teach mindfulness from three very important foundations;

  • my own personal mindfulness practice, established over several years, which remains an essential part of my daily life.
  • my 27 years of medical experience as a family doctor in the NHS, which gives me a deep understanding of the difficulties and suffering faced by many people.
  • my accreditation following completion of the Breathworks Mindfulness teacher training program. Breathworks is a participating member of the UK Network for Mindfulness-based Teacher Training Organisations. I continue to develop my skills with CPD, an annual retreat and regular teacher supervision, in line with the UK Network guidelines.
